Prawns with Bhut Jholokia

This was a recipe which would be remembered for long due to so many “firsts”! It was the first time I was using Bhut Jholokia in a dish (which I bought from Prague of all the places), this was the first time I was using fresh prawns in a dish (having used frozen ones everytime before) and this was the first time I was cooking in our new “Ceramic” Kadhaai (Bye Bye Teflon).

We had visited a restaurant named Chilli Point on the last day of our Prague stay for dinner and it was a spectacular experience! This restaurant specialises in serving dishes prepared with chilli varieties sourced from all over the world! Infact their desserts are also laced with chilli! They also have a shop where they sell chilli varieties in multiple forms – pastes, fresh and powders. I bought Bhut Jholokia & Trinidad Moruga Scorpion powder as well which is the 2nd hottest chili in the world, with a mean heat of more than 1.2 million Scoville heat units (SHUs). The previous record holder was infact Bhut Jholokia at more than 1 million SHUs. At number 1 is the Carolina Reaper with a rating of 2 Million SHUs! Hope I can get hold of that as well!

The recipe turned out to be very nice. It was flavourful, spicy and very delicious! Bhut Jholakia is here to stay! Do give it a shot folks…
